LGBTQ+ Programs

LGBTQSpring24.jpg
UAY's LGBTQ+ Programs provide active engagement for youth to help them find an affirming space to be themselves. We provide a safer space and opportunities for youth to explore and develop their identity, try new activities with LGBTQ+ peers, access formal mental health and crisis support resources, and build leadership and advocacy skills.

Eligibility:

  • Any junior high or high school student who self-identifies as LGBTQ+ may participate in any of our programming.

  • Parents and caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth of any age are invited to attend parent support groups twice per month.

  • Peer leadership positions are available through application. Interviews are held every 6 months.

Community Commitment:

In resistance to anti-LGBTQ, and specifically anti-trans legislation being authored and signed into law in the State of Iowa, United Action for Youth will continue to affirm and advocate for our community's trans and LGBTQ+ youth. For a list of transgender and nonbinary resources, please visit OneIowa's resource page: https://oneiowa.org/transresources/
