United Action for Youth Confidentiality Policy
|
 |
What you share with a UAY staff person is confidential, whether you are an adult or a teenager. It is important
that everyone has someone with whom they can share a concern, tell something private or get ideas on a troublesome situation.
Teenagers and their family members can do so at UAY, without information being shared with the rest of your family, your school
or others in the community, unless you give written permission.
There are 3 exceptions to this policy:
- CHILD ABUSE UAY staff must report all forms of child abuse.
- SUICIDE UAY staff will do everything possible to keep people from hurting themselves. That
may mean calling parents, the police or getting someone to the hospital.
- DANGER TO OTHERS If UAY staff believe there is clear and immediate danger to another person; they
will make a report.
RUNAWAY POLICY
- Runaways can call or come to UAY to talk over their situation.
- While the runaway is working with staff on finding solutions, no one will be called without the runaway's knowledge.
- If a runaway decides to continue on run, UAY staff will contact law enforcement or parents to let them know that the runaway
is safe and that they've been in contact.
