More about the Teen Parent Program: |
Support GroupsSupportive peer networks are created for young moms and dads during weekly group meetings and monthly workshops at UAY. Young parents meet other parents, share their parenting stories and build important new friendships. Meeting other young moms and dads shows young parents they’re not alone, and helps them feel supported. During these meetings young parents gather important information on personal and parental skill building, listen to speakers on a variety of topics and participate in fun recreational and craft activities. For attending the meetings, youth receive “Group Bucks” which can be cashed in for gift cards at local stores. Snacks, child care and transportation are all available! Contact a Teen Parent Family Support Worker at UAY to check on group times and openings. |
The Teen Parent Program is a proud recipient of two literacy grants, First Book and Reading is Fundamental. Through these grants, young families are given new books each month, which teaches them the importance of reading, right from the start. |
