At the Youth Center
355 Iowa Ave. Iowa City
- The Art Studio provides an opportunity for small group workshops, individual instruction, and open studio time.
- Youth can explore a variety of media including silk screen printing, ceramics, fiber arts, drawing, painting, book binding, sculpture, jewelry making, and independent projects.
- UAY is a great place to learn a new technique or develop your artwork even further. In addition to learning new skills, you can meet new people that are interested in the same things as you!!
Artists are encouraged to make art as well as show it in the gallery space, and can also participate in individual shows as well as group shows held frequently throughout the year.
Spring 2011 ART WORKSHOPS are Thursdays 4-5:30 and Saturdays 1-3. Call to register.
Weekly art workshops at the UAY Youth Center taught by our resident artist-teacher include fun crafts, fine art techniques, and everything in between. Experiment with paint, collage, clay, illustration, printmaking, food art, photography, and more! A short lesson at 4:00 will be followed by open studio time to experiment with the project of the day, and/or time to work on your own art projects with the guidance of an experienced art teacher. Bonus: Monthly opportunities to take arts field trips or present your work in UAY art shows! (Free and open to youth ages 12-18.)
